Great Ghouls! It’s Halloween in Golden! If you are searching for Halloween events or just want to get out and enjoy the fresh air during this harvest season, you will find something to do in Golden during October’s crisp fall days. Murder, Mayhem, and Madness Tours

Listen to tales of shootouts, murder, nefarious activities and mayhem that happened in historic Golden. See the park named after an innocent man hanged by a mob and the location of Golden’s ‘Night of Terror’. Colorado Haunted History Tours are available throughout the month through Saturday, November 4th.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Playing September 16 – October 28 is the Legend of Sleepy Hollow at Miners Alley Playhouse. Ichabod Crane has come to Sleepy Hollow to teach, but what he learns there frightens him nearly out of his wits! Watch as Ichabod learns of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and tries to escape the clutches of the Headless Horseman. Call 303-935-3044 for more information.

The Golden Haunted Hayride

Enjoy a ghostly hayride with Golden’s entertaining Historian Stacy Fowler and then join Psychic Medium Troy Griffin available after the event to answer your own personal physic question. Stacy Fowler, Golden’s haunted historian, will take you on a storytelling hayride adventure telling of the ghostly tales and spirits that reside in Golden. Seating is limited.

Ghosts of the Railyard

This unique paranormal activity tour begins with a brief welcome and an overview of railroad history in Colorado before breaking up into three groups. Guides from Altitude Paranormal, a group of local “ghost hunters,” will lead visitors through several rail cars while providing background information on each piece of historic equipment before attempting to contact spirits from the other side!

Halloween Hike

Spend some time in North Golden and hike up North Table Mountain. This classic hike or bike trip is a moderate 5.9 mile loop trail that will take you around — and over — the mesa top, with 360 degree views of Golden, Denver and the Front Range. An absolutely perfectly paranormal way to view an autumn moon!

Visit graves of legendary Golden characters on the Golden Cemetery Tour. Hear stories about their lives from storyteller and guide Ed Weising. Tours begin and end at the Golden Cemetery. Four tours are available.

Haunted Physics lab

Every year, the Colorado School of Mines Society of Physics Students holds a Haunted Physics Lab, with members demonstrating various experiments in the spirit of Halloween. The 2017 Haunted Physics Lab is sponsored by the CSM Society of Physics students. FREE event on Saturday, October 28. 8 a.m. – 2p.m. Colorado School of Mines – Ben Parker Student Center on 16th & Maple Streets.

Trick or Treat Train

It’s full steam ahead for tricks, treats and trains at the Colorado Railroad Museum! The Railroad Halloween Town is a safe place to enjoy Trick or Treating. Catch a ride behind a historic Denver & Rio Grande Steam Locomotive in vintage passenger cars hosted by conductors and engineers in full costume.Visit all of the special stops to fill your treat bags and tickle your funny bones including the “not so spooky” Haunted Railcar and the Olde Railroaders Silly Graveyard!

Nightmare on Greek Street

This free event provides the Golden community with a safe and fun trick-or-treat environment. Various Mines sports, clubs and organizations will set up booths along Greek Row, home to the university’s fraternities and sororities, featuring arts and crafts activities, face painting, rocket demonstrations and more. Hosted by the Colorado School of Mines Panhellenic and Interfraternity Council. 303-273-3541, FREE. October 26, 6:30 – 8:30 pm.

Visit the America Mountaineering Museum for annual YETI NIGHT! Gear giveaways from Eddie Bauer, beer from Grimm Brothers Brewhouse, a Yeti mask making table, and an amazing Yeti costume contest!

Theater of the Dead

Every Saturday evening, restless spirits reach out to the living in the streets of downtown Golden, Colorado to help solve a murder that occurred 125 years ago. You will piece together the events that took place on one fateful evening in this immersive experience! It is part theater, part scavenger hunt and YOU are the detective in a live game of clues! This event takes place both indoors and out, so dress accordingly!  One person in your group must be able to receive text messages. The Spirits look forward to your arrival!
